Do It Yourself Projects
Love Sign
I picked up some wood letters at Michael's and painted them in our colors and added some crystals for a little sparkle. Chris drilled some holes into a wooden plank so the letters can stand up on a table (not sure which table yet, but we'll find a place). I used similar letters to spell out Chris' last name (and my soon to be last name) and glued them to a wooden plaque which will sit on our guest book table.
Bridal & Groom's Suite Signs
I saw suite signs on knottie BostonBride919's planning bio and thought they would be cute for our respective suites to get ready on our wedding day. The best part is that the Bridal suite will also be our room for the night, so the "Please Do Not Disturb The Newlyweds" on the back is perfect.
Fabric Flower Pomander
This was going to be for the flower girl, but plans changed so this will probably go in a vase on the table for the sand ceremony.
Flip Flop Baskets
I picked up two baskets at Michael's which were on clearance, for 50% off. Chris and my family helped me stock up on flip flops during Old Navy's sale and I made little tags to attach to each pair indicating the size. I'll be adding signs and some ribbon to tie it in with our other signs.
Water Bottle Labels
Huge shout out to knottie MACDIDLYICIOUS for this awesome water bottle label template! We used water proof labels (use the lightest ink setting on your printer) and lucked out with water on sale that had blue tops, perfect for our wedding!
Tissue Paper Pomanders
Thanks to another DIY Knottie FutureMrsDudley55 I got the step by step (with pictures) directions to make these tissue paper pomanders. It comes out to about $5 per pomander (thanks to 40% off coupons at Michael's for the styrofoam balls). We will be using these to line the aisle for our outdoor ceremony, and just to get a little more use out of them we'll have the planner find a place for them in the reception.
Wedding Tree
I can't get the popular wedding tree out of my head. Since we already have the postcards for our guestbook at the reception we'll have or family & friends sign this tree at our rehearsal dinner.
Wedding Quilt
My FMIL is super talented and made this wedding quilt for us to have wedding guests sign. Since we already have the postcards and tree we're thinking of using this at the shower and having the guests at the rehearsal dinner fill it out.
Signs
Extra decor signs for our reception chairs and the bar.
Dress Hangers
I wanted to make sure that the beautiful dress pictures aren't marred by plastic hangers so I picked up a 5 pack of hangers and added some crystals for the first initial of all of our names.
Thank You Sign & Just Married Sign
Thank you sign to hold up during pictures for our thank you cards. Just Married sign to attach to our get away golf cart.
Seating Map
Chris created this floor plan in Photoshop and we enlarged it at FedEx Office. This will give guests an idea of which direction their table is.
Table Numbers for the Rehearsal Dinner
We decided to do table numbers for the rehearsal dinner to make things easier, but also because I really wanted to use those cheap Ikea frames!
Out Of Town Boxes
I scored these gables boxes at a great price from another local bride. A little cardstock & colored tape will do for decoration. We filled them with bottles of water, snacks and some other things to welcome our guests to Dallas.
Sparkler Send Off
The venue changed their policy so we'll be able to have a sparkler send off. Here's the set up for that.
Photobooth Set Up
We'll set up a sign next to the photobooth with a box for guests to leave a strip for our scrapbook.
Sand Ceremony Vases
I picked up all of these vases at Michael's with 50% off coupons. I added a little sparkle with our initials in blue and green crystals. I hope to reuse the vases in our home after the wedding. The first pomander I made was a little short, so we're going to use it as decor on the sand ceremony table.
Chocolate Favors & Boxes
We're going to be making (well really melting and molding) our own chocolate favors for the wedding. They will be in the shapes of Texas & Pennsylvania, our respective states of birth.
Postcard Guest Book
I knew I didn't want a regular "sign your name" type of guest book that we would store after the wedding and never look at again. I found an inspiration picture online and thought it would be a great idea. There will be postcards for the guests to sign, and a mailbox for them to drop it in. We will put them into an album after the wedding with photo booth photos.
Card Box
I ordered the suitcases online (thanks to a find by our planner) and cut them so the cards can drop in. To add a little bit of height, and more room for cards, I picked up a storage box from Micheal's and cut the lid so the cards can fall to the bottom.
Ceremony Bubbles Baskets
I was killing some time in the Marshall's and found this basket. It will be used to house the bubbles for the end of the ceremony. Slapped on a little sign with cardstock that matched the rest of my signs and we're good to go.
Program Basket
A nice lower basket to store the programs.
Props for Photo Booth
Not really DIY, but we're gathering a couple of items for guest to have fun with during their time in the photo booth.
Bridesmaids Bouquet Charms
I made bouquet charms for each of my bridesmaids. As a nod to my blogging on Weddingbee, I used all of the nicknames for them that I use on that site.
Sweetheart Table Sign
This isn't a true DIY, but I wanted to throw it in there. Chris had this made in San Antonio on our very first vacation together and we will be putting it on the sweetheart table, and it goes with our colors :)
